Hospice¤ýPalliative Care and Its Ethical Issues

Abstract
There might be many ethical problems about care and management of terminal patients related to death. In advanced countries, pain care and hospice medicine terminal patients has already been universal. The purpose of this paper was to identify hospice and palliative care for terminal cancer patients and to discuss the ethical issues in Korea. For the past several decades, hospice and palliative care services, which covered with health insurance system, for terminal cancer patients have been carried out in Korea as a comprehensive package of medical services to take care of death-facing terminal patients and their families with affection. But many ethical problems have been occurred in medical fields while
serving the hospice and palliative care served. The problems of defining death, brain death, end of life-sustaining treatment and advance directives, euthanasia, organ donation or transplantation nd so on were discussed in this paper.
